Trezeguet, who recorded the only goal of the burgundy-blue people in the match, celebrated the joy of the goal by prostrating. Meanwhile, Samet Akaydin, who was stated to have spit towards the Egyptian star, was harshly criticized. After the incident, a statement came from both Samet Akaydin and Trabzonspor.

We strongly condemn the inhumane act against our football player Mahmoud Trezeguet during the match we played with Fenerbahçe on May 18, 2023. It is disgraceful and disgusting that Fenerbahce football player Samet Akaydın’s ‘turning’ spit on our player while Trezeguet was prostrating after his goal celebration! We expect all football stakeholders to react to Samet Akaydın and the Turkish Football Federation, especially Fenerbahçe Sports Club, to take action immediately. We call on the entire sports community to come together, to reject such aggression and inhumane acts, and to protect the true values of football, so that sport can be rebuilt on the basis of friendship, love and respect. SAMET AKAYDIN ALSO MADE A STATEMENT
Samet Akaydin, who became the focus of criticism, made the following statement:
I condemn the immoral claims made by manipulating my movement, which is a part of the athlete’s habit, on social media. I refer to Allah those who try to pollute the competition in football and humanity with such slander, with the cheap approach of social media.
