Franjo von Allmen and Loïc Meillard get gold. A strong Linus Straßer drives the German duo to eighth place.

The ski racers from Switzerland have transformed the gripping World Cup premiere of the team combination into a national championship with international participation. All medals went to the Confederates, departure world champion Franjo von Allmen got his second gold alongside Loïc Meillard. Silver went to Alexis Monney and Tanguy Nef (+0.27 seconds), bronze surprisingly to Stefan Rogentin and Marc Rochat (+0.43).

The German duo took a good eighth place – more would have been possible. Only 0.77 seconds were missing too bronze. Linus Straßer showed a strong performance in slalom, drove the second best time and the German team still from 18th place. Simon Jocher, who left in the meantime, but brought back at short notice due to the disease of veteran Romed Baumann, had included the duo in third place in third place of 1.61 seconds.

Straßer was also not entirely satisfied. “It would have been a little more in it, but on the target slope I was to be behaved,” he said on ZDF and reported that the requirement was to be the combination race as a “training run” for the special slalom on Sunday (9.45 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. take with you in the live ticker at T-Online). For Switzerland it is the third gold medal after the victories of Marco Odermatt in the Super-G and from Allmen in the departure.
