In September last year, the Borger-Odoorn council decided to completely demolish the old Esdal College in Borger and to offer space for housing. Nevertheless, there remains discussion about the oldest part of the school building. According to former school director Tjesse van de Kamp, it must be preserved because of the historical value.
However, the municipality does not agree with that. They do want style elements of the current building, such as the tiled corridor and the tile tableau, to return to the new building. Meanwhile, Gemeentebelangen sees something in the idea of Van de Kamp, but tonight during the council meeting received zero on the complaint.
The party wants the municipality to make a new scan with three options. “Part of this research must be the preservation of the old 1930s part of the building,” said party chairman Eisso Kronenberg. The other parties do not agree.
