Demir makes migration from outside the EU harder for certain professions: “Not ideologically to say that we should be on the brakes”

Flemish Minister for Work Zuhal Demir (N-VA) wants to shorten the list of bottleneck professions for which labor migration from outside the European Union is easily possible, from 29 to 23 professions. Truck and bus drivers, sanitair installers, floorers tile sets, butchers and warm bakers disappear from the list. Labor market expert Jan Denys responds to the decision: “Low -skilled who enter our country, quickly end up in inactivity and cost our money.”
