DEL: Polar bears extend their lead

The Eisbären Berlin have extended their lead in the German Ice Hockey League (DEL). The team of former national coach Uwe Krupp won 4:1 (0:1, 1:0, 3:0) at runner-up ERC Ingolstadt and benefited from the slips of their pursuers. The Iserlohn Roosters, second in the table, lost a 3:1 lead in the 3:4 (1:1, 1:0, 1:3) at the Augsburg Panthers and is now five points behind Berlin. The Düsseldorfer EG surprisingly lost 0:3 (0:1, 0:1, 0:1) in the 210th Rhenish derby against the troubled Kölner Haie and remains one point behind Iserlohn in third place. With the unexpected away win, the Cologne team saved the job of their controversial coach Niklas Sundblad for the time being after the last four derby bankruptcies.
