ERC Ingolstadt has to worry about the final in the German Ice Hockey League (DEL). The favorite from Upper Bavaria lost on Sunday evening in its own hall against the Cologne Haie and now has to stretch a lot.

The favorite ERC Ingolstadt surprisingly fell behind in the playoff semi-final of the German Ice Hockey League. The Cologne sharks won 2-0 on Sunday evening in the third meeting (1: 0, 0: 0, 1: 0). Due to the lost home game, ERC Ingolstadt is now 1: 2 in the best-of-Seven series and is already under great pressure in the upcoming duel.

Haie take the lead in Ingolstadt

Last Wednesday the ERC still had the same place thanks to one 7-0 canter victory against the sharks a perfect start put into the series. On Friday, Cologne was able to compensate for a 5: 2 in her own hall, now the KEC takes the lead.

Hudacek makes ERC despair

The Canadian Josh Currie (8th) first scored the 1-0 for guests from the Rhineland. Frederik Storm (60th) from Denmark made the decision 1.8 seconds before the final siren. He hit the empty goal because Ingolstadt had exchanged her goalkeeper for her power play for a field player. Cologne’s goalie Julius Hudacek had previously brought the hosts to despair with numerous parades.

Next showdown on Wednesday

The Cologne team is now missing two victories for the surprising final, the next duel will take place in the cathedral city next Wednesday. Provided a victory, the eight -time German champion could make the sack in Ingolstadt on Friday.

For the Upper Bavaria, who had completed the main round in first place, it would be the fourth final in the club’s history. In 2014, the Schanzer won the national title for the first and so far.
