DEL: Eisbären Berlin maintain their lead in the table

With their ninth away win in a row, the Eisbären Berlin have maintained their lead in the German Ice Hockey League (DEL).

In the top game at the Fischtown Pinguins Bremerhaven, the DEL record champions fought back to win 4:3 (1:1, 1:2, 1:0, 1:0) after overtime after being behind twice. The Straubing Tigers climbed to second place with their 4:1 (2:0, 1:1, 1:0) win over the Augsburger Panthers and are now only one point behind.

The Adler Mannheim are sliding deeper and deeper into the crisis. The supposed title contender also lost the third game with the new coach Dallas Eakins in charge with the relegation-threatened Nuremberg Ice Tigers 2:5 (2:3, 0:1, 0:1) and is still clearly lagging behind their own demands in tenth place in the table . Defending champion Red Bull Munich, on the other hand, is gradually getting used to former national coach Toni Söderholm: The 2-1 (1-1, 1-0, 0-0) against the Grizzlys Wolfsburg was the fourth win in a row and took Bayern to fourth place.

At the bottom of the table, the Iserlohn Roosters gained new hope in the relegation battle. The Sauerlanders celebrated only their third win in the last eleven games with 5:2 (1:0, 3:1, 1:1) against the Löwen Frankfurt. The Düsseldorfer EG won 5:4 (2:2, 1:1, 2:1) against the Schwenninger Wild Wings with a goal from Brendan O’Donnell eight seconds before the end.

New international Nicolas Appendino gave Bremerhaven a 3-2 lead (28th). DEL returnee Jaedon Descheneau forced extra time (50th), in which Tobias Eder secured Berlin’s victory (64th). Tyler Sheehy was the match winner for Straubing with a brace.
