The EHC Munich missed the hoped-for breakthrough in the German Ice Hockey League on Tuesday. The hosts suffered another defeat against defending champions Eisbären Berlin. It was the third bankruptcy in a row.
EHC Red Bull Munich missed the return to success on Tuesday. The former champions suffered their third defeat in a row against defending champions Eisbären Berlin on their own ice with 2:3 (1:0, 0:2 1:1) and fell back to fifth place.
The home team set the tone in the first half of the game and deservedly took the lead with a goal from Jeremy McKenna. But the guests became more active over time and turned the game around. The final third was on a level playing field for a long time and without any real highlights. But then the Berliners started again and got the home team into trouble. Liam Kirk equalized after a remarkable counterattack (32nd), Lean Bergmann scored the Eisbären’s second goal after a strong individual performance (38th).
Ferguson still gave Munich hope
The decisive fourth goal for the Eisbären was then disallowed after video evidence. The Red Bulls were able to continue to hope in the sold-out SAP Garden, they took the goalie off the ice and Brady Ferguson was able to connect with 40 seconds left. There was nothing more possible for the Munich team on Tuesday evening.
