The Dresdner Eislöwen also lost the third game of the season against the Nürnberg Ice Tigers. The Saxons tried hard, but were unsuccessful. And in the end they clearly lost.

The Elbestadters lost 1:5 (0:2, 0:0, 1:3) in Franconia. In the end, the result was clearer than long stretches of the game. Even if a victory for Dresden quickly became a distant prospect.

The game started like so many for the Ice Lions this season: with a deficit. In an unclear situation, Nuremberg’s Tyler Spezia rushed into the guests’ box on the power play and got the disc on his bat in the crowd. After that, the puck was no longer visible and the referees decided it was Ice Tiger’s goal – this decision could not be overruled using video evidence (3rd minute). Dresden was committed, but there was always a bit of commitment, precision and luck missing. The Franks were different and increased the score after a squeaky clean attack by Brett Murray (10th).

Tyler Spezia put Nuremberg in front in the crowd.

No goals were scored in the middle third, even if the ESC was close. In the final section, Nuremberg scored the supposed decision with a double advantage through Cole Maier (48′). But a long-range shot from Tariq Hammond’s wrist (55′) briefly gave hope to the Saxons – Nuremberg’s Evan Fitzpatrick was defeated for the first time. But the spark only lasted for a short time, Sinan Akdag made everything clear with an empty net goal (57th), Owen Headrick (59th) put the lid on the game.
