It doesn’t look good for Düsseldorfer eG. Now two known faces are to help return to the success.

After the bitter descent from the DEL, Düsseldorfer eG relies on experience from its own ranks. Two former master players return – with a central role in the rebuild of the club.

As DEG announced, Andreas Niederberger and Rick Amann will now support the operational business. Both should work as a consultant and will participate in the management planning for the coming season. From May 1, 2025, they should also become part of the management.

According to the club, a “fundamental change” is necessary according to the club. With Niederberger and Amann, DEG promises new impulses-combined with a deep understanding of the structures of professional ice hockey and a strong network.

Niederberger, 61, became German champion with DEG in the 1990s. After the end of his active career, he worked as an entrepreneur, TV expert and most recently as Vice President of the German Ice Hockey Association.

Rick Amann, 64, also celebrated great success with the DEG: Between 1990 and 1993 he won four championship titles. He then completed an economic degree and later worked in leading positions in international banking. He also worked as a trainer, TV expert and was involved in the Vancouver Canucks Alumni.
