Minister Ruben Brekelmans (VVD) wants to optimize the system of benefits and facilities for veterans and service victims. He says that after parliamentary questions and an investigation by, among others, the Veteran ombudsman.

For years, veterans have been ringing the bell because the handling of compensation by the Ministry of Defense took too long. But it still takes too long before veterans who have been injured during their broadcast receive compensation.

The Ministry of Defense strives to handle an application for a regulation on full compensation (RVS) within two years. But studies show that the Ministry of Defense does not achieve that in sixty percent of the cases. The handling of an application usually takes approximately three years.

Brekelmans wants to solve the problems by communicating better, an expansion of the Personal Injury Department and setting a matter tracking system.

For example, the Personal Injury Department department must work with Infographics, an animation film and the language user must become easier. An extension of the number of personal injury lawyers must ensure that veterans are helped better. In addition, there must be an IT system in which veterans can follow their application.
