Fenerbahçe’s coach Domenico Tedesco, who lost 2-1 to Beşiktaş in the first match of Ziraat Turkish Cup Group C, said that they did not deserve to lose and that the result hurt them.
Answering questions at the press conference held after the match played at Chobani Stadium, the Italian coach stated that while there were many missing players in the team, they had a good opportunity to see the players they had.
Speaking about whether some of the players’ ideas were clarified during the half-time whether they should stay in the team or not, Tedesco said, “When we look at the minutes they played, some of them did not get a short time. We evaluated some of the players both in the first 11 and by putting them into the game later. Every match gives us new information and therefore the answer is yes.” he said.
Emphasizing that he did not want to talk about the transfers planned to be made during the halftime, Tedesco stated that he wanted to talk about the Beşiktaş derby.
Underlining that transfer periods are stressful for him, Tedesco said, “The team also reads these news. Midfielders or defenders are not happy when they read this news. But at the end of the day, they have to accept it. There are rumors and it is true that we want to improve the team. For me, the January transfer period is complicated. You do not know which players will be suitable. I have ideas in my mind and we talk about these ideas with the board of directors and our president. I already say, ‘I want that player.’ I don’t say, I state the profile in my mind. “For me, the January transfer window is a period where you have to react more, while the summer transfer window is a more active period.” made the statement.

Stating that there is no development regarding İrfan Can Kahveci, Cenk Tosun and Rodrigo Becao, who were excluded from the squad, Tedesco stated that the public will be informed if any action is taken regarding these players.
Emphasizing that they lost the match against Beşiktaş but the team did great work in the last 3 months, the Italian coach said:
