The situation in the bottom of the table in the Bundesliga is getting worse and worse for VfL Bochum – VfL loses in Gladbach and continues its negative series.
The goals in the 2-0 (1-0) for Borussia Mönchengladbach against VfL Bochum on Saturday (May 6th, 2023) were scored by Jonas Hofmann (35th minute) and Lars Stindl (90th + 1).
In general, it was not a good day for Bochum. VfL has now been without a win for six matches and, with a further 28 points, has slipped down to 17th place in the direct relegation zone. Gladbach now has 39 points, but remains tenth in the table.
Hofmann scores, Ngoumou aluminum
Gladbach took the lead when Hofmann processed a perfect cross from Ramy Bensebaini and scored his tenth goal of the season from close range. Borussia almost scored a second goal shortly afterwards, but Nathan Ngoumou only hit the crossbar from close range.
The guests from Bochum, on the other hand, had few offensive actions, their best chance before the break came from a free kick. Borussia keeper Jonas Omlin was able to fend off Erhan Masovic’s follow-up shot.
Bochum’s Hofmann hits the bar
Bochum almost equalized in the second half, but Philipp Hofmann’s header prevented the crossbar (59′).
Gladbach’s captain Stindl made the decision in injury time. After a cross from Bensebaini, Stindl’s first shot attempt was blocked, but then he headed the rebound over the line.
Bochum with an important game against Augsburg
On Matchday 32, VfL Bochum will play at home against FC Augsburg for important points in the fight to stay up (Saturday, May 13, 2023 at 3:30 p.m.). Mönchengladbach is challenged three hours later in Dortmund.
