Decathlon stabilizes profit at 923 million euros in 2022

The sporting goods production and distribution group Decathlon achieved a net profit of 923 million euros in 2022 and increased its global sales to 15 billion euros, the company announced on Friday.

Last year, Decathlon, which is part of the Mulliez consortium, increased its sales by 12 percent to 15.4 billion euros, according to a press release.

Online sales and net profit increase

Online sales accounted for 17 percent of group sales, up from 8 percent in 2019 before the pandemic. This number is slightly down compared to 2021 – back then it was still 21 percent.

Net income rose 1.09 percent, taking into account “the impact of the suspension of retail activities of the stores and e-commerce site in Russia,” announced at the end of March 2022, the group said.

“Decathlon has delivered a solid performance in 2022 in an unstable global economic and geopolitical environment,” commented CEO Barbara Martin Coppola, quoted in the press release.

Decathlon was founded in Englos (northern France) in 1976 and employs around 105,000 people in more than 1,700 branches in 72 countries.(AFP)
