Os Lusitanos is a well-known name in Amsterdam indoor football, but the club is still somewhat unknown outside the city limits. That must change this year. The debutant in the Premier League decided to merge with ASV Lebo at the beginning of last summer. The latter club has been playing in the Premier League for many years and even won the national title in 2016.

With Groene Ster Vlissingen, Os Lusitanos met a lower-quality opponent in round one. This became apparent in the opening phase, when coach Eric de Jongh’s team soon led 2-0. Then things got messier and messier. Thanks to a few nice individual actions, the team from Amsterdam went to rest with a 4-3 lead.

With captain Mo Attaibi and internationals such as Iliass Bouzit, Saber ben Khalou, Mohamed Chih and Ayoub el Boubsi, the Amsterdam futsal club wants to compete for prizes this season. In a half-filled sports hall, the supporters saw after half time that the home team was also a size too big for the visitors from Zeeland. Os Lusitanos did not really have any more problems and increased the lead with two nice goals, 6-3.

“I think a few teams are eligible,” said coach Eric de Jongh about the title candidates for this season. “We really want to be that way, but the other teams really want that too.”
