Dear people, that was no “Abba Party”!

In Great Britain, not even a government crisis works without pop music. A party in Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s official apartment, which is probably illegal according to the Corona rules, was christened the London boulevard “Abba Party”. The usual well-informed sources had told the “Mail on Sunday” that in November 2020 the Swedish quartet’s popular hits could be heard from the cranked system. Jokers have been wanting to create a playlist for future occasions…

Now Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus made it clear via the British agency PA Media that this was by no means an “Abba Party”: “It was a Johnson party at which some Abba music happened to be played. No Abba party”. According to the Independent, Andersson jokingly assumed they would have been DJing The Winner Tales It All. Colleague Ulvaeus was surprised. “I mean wow! Did they only play Abba’s music? Are you kidding? They certainly played something else,” said the 76-year-old.

ABBA are in London for tonight’s Brit Awards ceremony and don’t want to be associated with the boozy lockdown celebrations. Meanwhile, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson seems to have no doubts that he will survive the massive crisis of confidence in his own party as well. He announced “I will Survive” and thus took off from Gloria Gaynor’s popular disco hit.
