Dead civilians on the streets – Klitschko accuses Putin of genocide

These images are unbearable. They say more than any wordy description. Pictures that show all the cruelty with which Putin’s troops are acting in Ukraine!

Bodies are lying on the street, in courtyards – some with their hands tied behind their backs – women half buried, probably raped and then shot, dead in gully openings …

war atrocities! war crimes!

Ukrainian soldiers have discovered dozens of dead civilians in the recaptured city of Bucha, northwest of Kyiv.

“What happened in Bucha and other suburbs of Kyiv can only be described as genocide,” Kiev Mayor Vitali Klitschko told BILD. “These are cruel war crimes that Putin is responsible for there. Civilians shot with their hands bandaged.”

Ukrainian Presidential Advisor Mykhailo Podoliak tweeted on Saturday night:

“They weren’t in the military, they didn’t have guns, they posed no threat,” he wrote. “How many such cases are happening in the occupied territories right now?”

A photo that Podoliak shared in his tweet showed shot dead men, one of whom had his hands tied behind his back.

The authenticity of the image could not be independently verified. Other reports by Ukrainian media about alleged atrocities by Russian soldiers could not be independently verified or confirmed.

The authorities meanwhile buried around 280 civilians in Bucha in a mass grave. The corpses could not be buried during the Russian occupation, according to the “Ukrayinksa Pravda” from the administration.

Klitschko sends a clear demand to Germany: “There can only be one consequence for the whole world and Germany in particular: Not a cent can go to Russia anymore, that’s bloody money with which people are slaughtered. The gas and oil embargo must come immediately.”

Russians withdraw

In the last few days, the Russian army has withdrawn from the Kyiv area and is now concentrating on the east of the country.

What you can see in the streets where there was fighting since the partial withdrawal of the Russian army is pure horror: masses of tanks destroyed, apartment buildings shot up, corpses just lying by the side of the road.

The situation in the east, in Mariupol, is hard to imagine. Military experts are certain that Putin will now try with all his might to take the city, which has been surrounded for weeks and is strategically important for Russia as a land connection to Crimea.

The Ukrainian armed forces are now faced with the question of how many of their own troops should withdraw from the capital and fight in the east. Because there is great concern that another attack will take place in Kyiv in a few weeks or months.

Kiev Mayor Vitali Klitschko told BILD am SONNTAG: “Putin has changed his strategy for the time being because he was unable to take Kyiv, our resistance is too strong for that. Now the Russian army is trying to continue first in the east. But the danger for Kyiv remains, because it was and is Putin’s goal to conquer the capital. He has now postponed this goal for tactical reasons. We urgently need further support from the West to be able to defend ourselves.”
