Someone was killed in an accident with a water scooter in Zijkanaal C this afternoon. A second person was seriously injured.
The accident happened not far from the viaduct of the A9, on the border between Velsen-Zuid and Spaarndam.
The two were on one jet ski together. The driver has died. The passenger was hospitalized with serious injuries. How the accident could have happened is under investigation.
Police have not yet released any information about the identities of the victims. The families were informed this afternoon about the accident. They are picked up by the police.
An earlier version of this article stated that it was a jet ski accident. That had to be a watercraft.
