Some of the adjustments are what De Lijn calls “hygiene measures”: changes based on changed school hours, train hours or changes on the site. But they also have to do with savings. The Flemish government wants to save on De Lijn and imposed a total effort of 44 million euros on the transport regions.
The adjustments are very diverse: from completely deleted lines to lower frequencies or a different route. Some lines are expanded to accommodate other adjustments and occasionally a line is added. Travelers will be able to consult the timetable from May 18 via De Lijn’s route planner in the app and on the website.
Due to this change, the socialist trade union ACOD calls on the transport regional councils in Flanders not to accept the millions in savings. They call for “considering all possible legal steps” to enforce participation.
