The mayor expresses his condolences to the relatives, colleagues and other involved parties. The same applies to retailers such as Manon Kellenaar. “Of course we never thought that something like this could happen.”

Emergency services were unable to save the victim
The owner of a liquor store tells how officers walked into his home.
“Officers who had carried the man to the ambulance were covered in blood, which they washed off here at the sink. It all happened very quietly, it was unclear for a long time what exactly had happened.”
Suspect arrested, investigation ongoing
A woman who works in the area comes to lay a bouquet of flowers at the shop. “I first heard a lot of sirens, and then the police helicopter came over. When you next hear what happened, I think it’s so bad. Expressing your condolences is the least you can do.”
The police have now arrested a 19-year-old suspect from Beverwijk. The investigation into the circumstances of the robbery is still ongoing.
