García was brought to Amsterdam by technical director Jordi Cruijff at the beginning of February. The Spaniard started at Jong Ajax and took over the first team a month later, succeeding Fred Grim. García would like to stay at Ajax.
“Not for one season, but maybe for the rest of my career,” García said. “For now I want to get as many points as possible. We’ll take it one match at a time. I’m not concerned with my future right now.”
Guard of honor for the national champion
García was full of praise for PSV at the press conference. Ajax will form a guard of honor for the national champion from Eindhoven. “We do that out of respect,” García said. “PSV deserves that. They are doing well. It was not exciting, but a big difference. They have become champions a few times.”
