Davis Cup: Alcaraz and Spain as group winners after Malaga

The Spanish Davis Cup team led by world number one Carlos Alcaraz mastered their mandatory task against South Korea 3-0 and, as group winners, booked their place in the finals in Malaga at home.

US Open winner Alcaraz defeated Kwon Soonwoo 6: 4, 7: 6 (7: 1) in Valencia on Sunday. Previously, Roberto Bautista Agut had clearly won against Hong Seong-Chan 6-1, 6-3.

In the final doubles, the Spanish duo Marcel Granollers/Pedro Martinez defeated their South Korean opponents Nam Ji Sung/Song Min-Kyu 7:5, 3:6, 6:1.

That saw Spain move up to first place in Group B, past Canada, who now meet Germany in the finals starting on 22 November.

The German Davis Cup team secured victory in Group C with a 2-1 win over Australia at Rothenbaum in Hamburg.
