On January 15th, David Lynch passed away. The director and screenplay legend was 78 years old. The cause of death of the “Twin Peaks” maker has still not been officially announced. Many stars who were close to Lynch spoke out after the news of his death and paid tribute to him. So does Netflix co-chief executive Ted Sarandos. He not only called him “an unabashed genius,” but also revealed that David Lynch had recently been working on a Netflix series.

“We agreed immediately”

According to Sarandos, when David Lynch wanted to work with the streaming giant, they were immediately hooked. On his Instagram account, the co-CEO said: “He came to Netflix to propose a limited series and we immediately said yes. It was a David Lynch production, so it was full of mystery and risk, but we wanted to go on this creative journey with this genius.”

Ted Sarandos further praised the deceased with the words: “David Lynch was an unabashed genius. He didn’t want people to understand his work. He knew it was impossible and that was part of the journey together.”

What happens next?

It was not announced whether the series in question, for which neither the cast nor the title or even the current implementation status was shared, would still be finalized after Lynch’s death. However, when Sarandos’s Instagram post says that it is “impossible” to properly understand the filmmaker’s work, one might think that a continuation of the Netflix series is not even possible.
