People she loves should feel her pain

“My younger, fragile self had quickly begun to lose the battle against my chemically imbalanced brain,” begins the lines from the daughter of Bowie’s marriage to model Iman Abdulmajid. Jones interfered by putting herself “into situations that contributed to the already crumbling foundation” of her family. “There have been lonely isolations, unexpected deaths of loved ones, and even ones that I almost experienced myself.”

The 23-year-old continued: “I confused living with surviving life by filling the bottomless emptiness of my body and drowning myself in poisons and venom.” She hurt the people she loves most “with hateful words “, “to let her feel at least a little bit of the pain” that she herself felt every day.

Lexi Jones described struggling with mental health issues and lacking self-reflection. That she had “developed into such a violent and angry person was an incredible contradiction to the sweet and gentle little girl” she once was.

In conclusion, Bowie’s daughter said that she has learned to forgive herself and not dwell on the past and “just remember the little girl” she once was.

Healing through the beauty of art

She is also open about her mental health on her website, where Jones sells her art. There she writes: “I have struggled with mental health issues for most of my life, and creating art has always been a coping mechanism for me to get out of dark situations from which I saw no way out.”

Continuing: “Mental health issues are something that many of us struggle with, but at the same time it has a societal stigma attached to it, making it sensitive and embarrassing to talk about, which shouldn’t be the case. It’s okay to not feel well, but it’s also important to find an outlet that works for you.”

Her current “Pieces of me” collection is about coming together to heal through the beauty of art.
