Dave Gahan and Kurt Uenala covered the song “Chains” by Danish indie rock band The Raveonettes. Their singer Sune Rose Wagner was honored in a Facebook post.

“People only ever think about success in terms of number of records sold or chart positions. For me, success has always been about dreaming big, believing in myself, and standing up for what I stand for. And the fact that Dave covered one of our songs is a success for me. It’s an honor and shows that daydreaming as a child is something very good and creative.”

Chains is part of the forthcoming Raveonettes cover album. Under the title “Rip It Off”, different artists cover the eight songs of their debut album “Whip It On”, which will be released in 2022. In November 2022, the Danish musician Trentemøller has already presented his version of “Cops on Our Tail”.

Gahan and Uenala have been working together for quite some time. The producer has collaborated on various Depeche Mode songs and in December 2022 they released a joint ambient EP.

The 15th Depeche Mode studio album “Memento Mori” will be released on March 17, 2023. Gahan said in an interview that all of the songs were written before her band member Andrew Fletcher died in May 2022. After the release, the band will tour Europe and North America, playing eight concerts in Germany.
