Metallica are coming to Hamburg this weekend. As part of their “M72 World Tour”, they stop for two individual concerts in the Hanseatic city. The first concert will take place today, Friday 26 May, at the Volksparkstadion in Hamburg. The second show follows on Sunday, May 28, 2023. It starts at 5:30 p.m. Admission begins at 4:00 p.m.
The gigs are two completely different concerts, each with individual setlists and different support acts. On the first night, Architects and Mammoth WVH, Eddie Van Halen’s son’s band, will open for Metallica. Sunday will feature Boston, Massachusetts-based support act Ice Nine Kills, as well as Epica, who are replacing Five Finger Death Punch, who were out due to illness.
Tickets are available here. The M72 Tour features a new stage concept that moves the Metallica Snake Pit to the center of the stage. Anyone who didn’t make it to Hamburg this weekend can still see Metallica in Germany next year. Because in May they will come to Munich again for two of these individual shows.
Metallica will provide more information about the concerts on their interactive map ready. There will be a pop-up shop in Hamburg’s Barlach Halle K from May 25th to 28th to go with the tour. In addition to the regular tour merch, you can also buy a range of exclusive items there. These include screenprinted posters and t-shirts with special artwork by artists Juan Ma Orozco, Luke Preece and Squindo, and a limited-edition Screaming Suicide skateboard. Getting there:
The Volksparkstadion is located in the Altonaer Volkspark in Hamburg’s Bahrenfeld district. If you are arriving by car, there are numerous paid parking spaces available on site. There is a fee of seven euros for parking. However, it is recommended to travel by public transport; The best way to reach the Volksparkstadion is via the S3 and S21 S-Bahn lines. This takes you either to the Stellingen or Eidelstedt stops. Alternatively, you can take the S-Bahn line S11 to the Othmarschen stop.
