Darter Gian van Veen hopes to participate in the Premier League again on Thursday. The eighth round of the tournament between the best eight players in the world is in Berlin. The vice world champion from Andel skipped the seventh round in Dublin last week because he had to have kidney stones removed.
The 23-year-old number 3 in the world indicated on Instagram that he has worked hard on his recovery, but feels tired and wants to listen to his body. “But I am in Berlin and the intention is to play. My absence last week has had consequences for my ranking, because I am now sixth.”
Van Veen will meet Gerwyn Price in the first round. Michael van Gerwen, the second Dutchman among the participants, competes against Luke Humphries.
Van Veen will make his debut in the Premier League this season. During the first six evenings he finished second three times.
