Dow Jones-Danone grew more than expected in a comparable basis in the second quarter. The French food group, which, among other things, produces Activia yogurt and Evian water, showed an area-adjusted sales growth of 4.1 percent, whereby the volume of the products sold rose by 3.2 percent and 1 percent prices compared to the previous year. According to an analyst consensus compiled by the company, only an area -adjusted growth of 3.8 percent was expected, with 2.5 percent of the volume and 1.4 percent.
On a reported basis, sales fell to 6.91 billion euros from 6.94 billion in the previous year, and was therefore slightly below the market expectations of 6.92 billion euros. Danone mainly explained the decline with currency fluctuations.
The special food area showed an increase in sales of 8.7 percent, and the area of dairy products and vegetable products an increase of 3 percent. The water segment, on the other hand, recorded a slight decline of 0.5 percent.
