Daniël Lohues has released a new single: Light in the duust. It is the start of a busy period for the musician, with a theater tour and a new album.
In the dark month of January, Lohues suddenly heard himself laughing out loud. “That is a period when the Christmas lighting is gone and the weather is gray. Then it is important to keep seeing the light in life that it is not too dark in the head.” A feeling that the artist does recognize. “But then I suddenly had to laugh at something very much. That was such a moment that I thought: a little smile is enough to give you that wow feeling.”
It put Lohues writing. “In this time, that light is perhaps more important than ever. I am not such a carnival celebration, but perhaps it is sometimes good to completely hang out the mallot for a few days. A bit like dancing on the volcano. There are so many silly things going on in the world, but it is not actually a bit of fun.”
And LOL will do Lohues in the coming period. Wednesday is the premiere of his theater show in Hardenberg. Together with guitarist Bernard Gepken and bassist Reyer Zwart, he is looking up the theaters in the country again.
“We are going to play songs from the last thirty years. There are old songs, but also some new songs,” says Lohues. Those new songs will soon be on his new LP. “It will come out in a few weeks, we still have to do the last things on it.”
The album does not have a title yet. “But it has gone crazy. I have listened to it a few times now and I am very happy with it.”
