At the German formation championships on Saturday evening, there was no way around the world champions: the standard dancers from the Braunschweig TSC triumphed, as did the Latin team from the Grün-Gold-Club Bremen.

As at the World Championships four weeks earlier, the Braunschweig standard formations prevailed over the dance sport team ASC Göttingen (“Happy together”) with their choreography “Dancing on the Ceiling”. At the world title fights in Braunschweig, the hosts had just won with a lead of just 0.3 points. In the Bremer Stadthalle, the team of successful coach Rüdiger Knaack showed an almost flawless performance and won with 34.25 points (Göttingen: 33.17).

TSC Rot-Gold Casino Nürnberg took third place. “I’m happy that the young team has once again confirmed that we’re the best,” said Knaack. “We are well on the way to being outstanding again and there is still potential in the team.”

Green-Gold-Club unbeatable despite weaknesses

In the Latin formations, the series winner Grün-Gold-Club Bremen (“Emozioni”) showed unexpected weaknesses and lack of concentration, but won with 34.67 points but was still unchallenged ahead of TSG Bremerhaven, third in the World Cup (31.63). Third was Blau-Weiss Buchholz. Promoted TSG Bietigheim made it into the final of the top four teams on their DM debut.

“We danced sensationally in the preliminary round. There was a blunder in the final, but if you take a lot of risks, things like that happen. I’m still satisfied,” summarized Bremen’s coach Roberto Albanese.

The DM was also the first qualification for the World Championship next year.
