Fortuna Düsseldorf must slowly bury its ambitions for the promotion places in the 2nd Bundesliga. In the end there was only a 1:1 (1:1) against FC Heidenheim.
After goals from Tim Kleindienst (20th) and Emanuel Iyoha (27th), it was already 1-1 at the break. Heidenheim’s Denis Thomalla saw the red card in the 77th minute.
With a majority, however, Fortuna was no longer able to score a decisive goal. FCH remains third in the table with 47 points and at least kept Fortuna (39) at a distance in fifth place.
Heidenheim, who ended the Darmstadt series of 21 league games without defeat last week, initially saw themselves under great pressure in Düsseldorf. Practically out of nowhere, however, Kleindienst hit his head with his 16th goal of the season to guide the visitors.
Düsseldorf was not impressed in front of 26,827 spectators, Iyoha equalized seven minutes after the deficit after a nice combination. After the change of sides, the encounter was balanced, but also extremely tough. With a majority, Ao Tanaka missed the huge chance to make it 2-1 for Fortuna (84th).
