Damon Albarn shared his thoughts on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and the new Beatles single “Now And Then” in an interview. He could therefore also imagine that his half-finished pieces could one day be completed with the help of AI and published long after his death.

The Beatles released what was probably their “last song” at the beginning of November, on which all members can be heard. The creation process of “Now and Then” spanned five decades. The song was originally written by John Lennon in the late 1970s and then recorded as an incomplete demo. The Beatles had intended to release the song on their album “Anthology 3” 26 years ago, but ultimately nothing came of it. And now the piece has been completed by the living members Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr more than 40 years after they began working on it – mwith the help of AI technology.

Blur and Gorillaz singer Damon Albarn commented on the Beatles’ AI approach in an interview with “Les Inrockuptibles” and explained that this technique could one day be applied to his voice. “Initially John Lennon was alone in his apartment singing a song […]. I don’t think it was intended to achieve that level of notoriety. But you know, it’s a good thing for everyone. I heard that some compilations are being reissued. So it may not be the last time. […] It “It’s a question of scale: if enough people are interested, hundreds of my songs could be released after my death, including songs that I never wanted to release,” he speculated, showing that he was not entirely happy about this development of artificial intelligence.
Finally, he says in a conciliatory way: “But it’s nice to hear John’s voice.”
