Hostilities resume at the Dakar after the day of rest in Ha’il, with a challenging stage to 605 km to get to Al-Duwadimi. The reigning champion Ricky Brabecon Honda, was the fastest, preceding his brand mate Adrien Van Beveren by just 23″ and the Chilean José Ignacio Cornejo Florimo by 51″. Management stage for the general leader Daniel Sanders, who finishes ninth at 5’43”, leaving three minutes on the plate compared to his closest pursuer Tosha Schareina. However, the Spaniard remains 11’46” off the top.

No problem for Daniel Sanders in today’s stage, but a conscious choice to start further back in the next stage: “The start wasn’t easy, I got lost at the beginning, but in the end today it was important not to be among the first because the next stage is very complicated and I wanted to face it with a favorable starting position”, explained the Australian, who is now being chased by a patrol of four official Hondas. Of note, however, is the withdrawal of the Botswana rider Ross Branchwho crashed at km 48 with his Hero and was forced to abandon the race. Overall he is the best of the Italians Tommaso Montanari39th on Fantic, but Andrea Winkler and Tiziano Internò are also in the top 50.
