d4vd “Petals To Thorns” EP on vinyl

From the large number of young artists who publish their music online, only a few can draw attention to themselves. Unless they are a talent like d4vd. The 18-year-old Texan recorded his first songs at home and shared them with the world via the internet. Now he’s preparing to gain a foothold in the alternative R’n’B scene.

His young story is appropriate for the digital age: David Anthony Burke, the singer’s real name, was originally a gamer on Twitch. He then uploaded his “Fortnite” sessions to YouTube and added well-known songs to them. After the video platform sent him a warning about copyright infringement, he decided without further ado to use his own music for the clips.

D4vd’s feel for songwriting and soul melodies developed primarily through gospel music, which he grew up with. In his sister’s closet he recorded his first song, “Romantic Homicide”, which he released on Soundcloud. He signed his first contract with Darkroom/Interscope, which is also where DIY artist Billie Eilish is signed.

On September 8th, his two EP “The Lost Petals” will be released, from which the single “Notes From A Wrist” was previously released.
