Cyclist Yates from Vuelta after corona infection

Cyclist Simon Yates will no longer start in the eleventh stage of the Tour of Spain. The British cyclist of BikeExchange-Jayco has tested positive for the corona virus, his team reports.

Yates was fifth in the general classification after Tuesday’s time trial. The winner of the 2018 Vuelta was 4.50 minutes behind classification leader Remco Evenepoel from Belgium.

The 30-year-old cyclist developed minor complaints during the evening and had a positive test in the morning. The team says that several tests will be done to monitor the health and safety of the other riders and staff members.
