The Tour of Spain Vuelta will take place this year without two-time Tour de France winner Tadej Pogacar.
This emerges from a message from his team UAE Emirates. 23-year-old Slovenian Pogacar, who finished second to Denmark’s Jonas Vingegaard in the last Tour de France, will instead focus on one-day races in late summer and autumn.
His next start is on July 30th at the San Sebastian Classic, after which several participations in various Grand Prix competitions are planned before the Road World Championships. The Vuelta, which starts in the Netherlands and ends in Madrid, lasts from August 19th to September 11th this year. Pogacar was actually scheduled to start at the third major national tour of 2022.
