The race will start from Fossacesia (Chieti) on 6 May and will end in Rome on 28 May, the fifth time that the Eternal City accompanies the Giro d’Italia to the finish line: the first was in 1911, on the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of the Kingdom, the last one in 2018, with the splendid arrival of Froome in Maglia Rosa against the backdrop of the Colosseum and the Imperial Forums. 17 Teams and 10 Special Teams have entered and will only start in some stages” concluded Bellino. Among the captains who will accompany the participants there will also be Damiano Cunego, winner of the Giro d’Italia 2004 and three Lombardia (2004, 2007 and 2008). “It will be my second Giro-E. Last year, as captain of the RCS Sport team, it was a great experience. It was my first time on a pedal assisted bike. I also understood the importance of the message: the promotion of a more sustainable lifestyle, also through the use of this type of bike for everyday use”.
