FC Bayern probably insists on a transfer -free change from international Jonathan Tah. Therefore, a curious scenario threatens the club World Cup.
The transfer theater around international Jonathan Tah apparently goes into extra time. As the publishing group “Münchner Merkur/TZ” reports, FC Bayern should not be willing to pay for the Tah to Bayer Leverkusen, which was actually free of charge after this season.
The German record champion has already agreed with the 29-year-old on a transfer-free change. Tah is already expected for a medical check in Munich on Wednesday. The problem: Tah’s contract in Leverkusen expires, but only on June 31. The club World Cup, in which the Munich participants take, starts on June 15 for Bavaria.
The German record champions would usually also like to have his new defense chief with them. However, Leverkusen should demand at least one million euros to release Tah at the beginning of the tournament-and possibly even even higher bonus payments, provided Bayern should progress with Tah at the club World Cup.
With this transfer poker, the Munichers obviously do not want to participate and do not want to pay a transfer for tah on Leverkusen. Should Bayer Tah actually refuse approval by June 31, the plan of the record champions now provides for the newcomer to forego until then. On July 1st, Tah could then easily be registered with the club World Cup. In a possible quarter -finals that Bayern would contest on July 4th or 5th, he could then be used for the first time. The team would then have to contest the entire preliminary round and the round of 16 without tah.
Already last year there was a dispute between Leverkusen and Bavaria regarding the possible transfer fee for Tah. Leverkusen wanted 25 million euros, but Bavaria was only ready to pay 20 million. And finally, the deal burst due to only five million euros difference, although the player was already completely in agreement. So it can be assumed that the Munich team will also take seriousness this time in the transfer poker-and that the preliminary round of the club World Cup will actually play without tah if necessary.
Curious: Defender Eric Dier, who will switch to AS Monaco, Bayern would also like to have had with the club World Cup. However, his new club does not want him to take part in the tournament. But Dier is actually under contract with Bayern until June 30th. So far, the fact that the record champions will be insisted on compliance and participation of the club World Cup has so far been very unlikely.
At least theoretically, however, there could now be an extremely bizarre scenario at the club World Cup: Dier still has to stay until June 31 and play the first half of the club World Cup for Bavaria until Tah then replaced it on July 1 and takes over his place in the defense center during the tournament. It would certainly be a worthy final spoon of a true transfer counter – albeit a rather unlikely.
