With HITS TO THE HEAD, Franz Ferdinand release a compilation of their greatest hits. The album will be released on March 11, 2022 and will contain twenty tracks. In addition to well-known songs by the indie rock band, two new songs will also be heard: “Billy Goodbye” and the new single “Curious”.
“Curious” is about young love, but also about the nagging question of whether one’s feelings will be reciprocated. Or, in the words of singer Alex Kapranos, “It’s like a meet-cute on the front page [eines Theaterstücks], when the tension rises on a dark stage, then, at the moment our destinies collide, I ask myself: after conquering me, would you still want to stay with me? I long for the future. Do we have one in common? I am excited”.
“That was the idea behind the lyrics – a bit like the opposite of the moment you die and your entire life passes you by,” adds the singer. “Here you can already foresee the course of the relationship from the moment you fall in love”.
A video will accompany the release of the new song, including a dance performance by Franz Ferdinand. Kapranos explains: “[Das Lied] is a dance number, that’s what we thought of when we thought about a video. [Dann fragten wir uns] why don’t we dance in the video too?”.

In the mid-noughties, Franz Ferdinand from Glasgow was at the forefront of new British indie rock music alongside Bloc Party, Maximo Park and The Libertines. Their debut FRANZ FERDINAND was released in 2004, followed by four more albums. The current one, ALWAYS ASCENDING, was released in 2018.
