The Cuyper has been going through the youth academy of Club Brugge since 2008 and made his debut for the main force of Blauw-Zwart in the interim of the Europa League against Manchester United at the beginning of 2020. The left wing defender was lent to Westerlo for two seasons in 2021, with whom he obtained his PhD to the Jupiler Pro League in 2022, and afterwards became a fixture at Club. De Cuyper played a total of 114 games for the people of Bruges, in which he hit nine times and gave 22 assists. With Blauw-Zwart he became champion three times (2020, 2021 and 2024) and once conquered the cup of Belgium (2025) and the Belgian Supercup (2021).
The Cuyper made his debut in June last year, in the practice match against Montenegro (2-0 win) prior to the European Championship, also for the Red Devils. In Germany the West Flanders did not take action, but afterwards he regularly received a base place in Belgium. In total he already collected ten caps with the national team.
According to media reports, Brighton puts more than twenty million euros on the table for the services of the Cuyper. The Fabian Hürzeler team ended in the Premier League last season as eighth and therefore narrowly grabbed a European ticket.
