In the German Cup quarter -finals, Bayer Leverkusen hosted Cologne in his house. The match started with an unexpected incident. Immediately after the first whistle of the struggle, the stadium was suddenly covered with smoke because of the torches burned by the fans of Cologne in the away tribune. The match, which started in an airy environment, had to be stopped in 3 minutes by the referee Frank Willenborg due to the reduction of the distance.
After waiting for about 10 minutes, the game was restarted with the disintegration of the smoke pressing the field.
