Football professional Michy Batshuayi has lost the fight for the life of his beloved cat Kiyo. The pet, which was hit by a car a few days ago, died as a result of the accident, the 32-year-old striker from Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt announced on Instagram.
“Kiyo fought bravely until the end, and we were with him every moment. He left in our arms, surrounded by love, his heart finally at peace. I asked him to forgive me for not being able to protect him as I would have wanted,” Batshuayi wrote.
The Eintracht professional, who once also played for Borussia Dortmund, is followed by over 2.8 million users on Instagram. After the accident, he successfully launched a blood donation appeal.
“Kiyo received several blood transfusions, but unfortunately his immune system rejected the foreign blood,” said Batshuayi.
