The second round of the DFB Cup is history, but the round of 16 is already loudly announced. The draw today will show which games will keep football Germany on tenterhooks. On sport.de From 5:50 p.m. you can read directly in the LIVE blog who FC Bayern, BVB and Co. will meet.

Hamburger SV, Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig, Borussia Mönchengladbach, FC St. Pauli, Bayer Leverkusen, VfB Stuttgart, Union Berlin, SC Freiburg and FC Bayern: These are the ten first division teams that can still hope for a triumph in Berlin in 2025/26.

This elite field is complemented by six clubs from the German lower house of football: SV Darmstadt, 1. FC Kaiserslautern, 1. FC Magdeburg, VfL Bochum, Holstein Kiel and Hertha BSC. Kiel (1-0 against VfL Wolfsburg) and Bochum (1-0 against FC Augsburg) each knocked a first division team out of the competition in round 2.

The pairings are drawn in the football museum in Dortmund by sailor Felix van den Hövel. There is already a general schedule: the duels are scheduled to take place on December 2nd and 3rd.

FC Bayern against BVB is also possible

All pairings are possible in the round of 16, meaning the 16 remaining teams are in a draw pot. This means that absolutely cracking games are possible. By the way, the team that is drawn first always has home advantage, as only teams from the first two German professional leagues are represented.

With Stuttgart, Leverkusen, Leipzig, BVB and FC Bayern, all teams that were able to lift the pot in the last seven events are still represented. Since the turn of the millennium, only Schalke, Werder Bremen, 1. FC Nürnberg, VfL Wolfsburg and Eintracht Frankfurt have won the coveted trophy.

With FC St. Pauli, Union Berlin, SC Freiburg as well as Darmstadt, Magdeburg, Bochum and Kiel, there are currently seven teams still in the running for whom a cup victory would be a novelty.
