THE‘Havana, 15 May. (askanews) – An island in the darkCubans protest in Havana over the continuations blackout on the electricity grid. The Caribbean country has been hit for months by worsening power outages linked to the heavy embargo and cuts in supplies by Venezuela after the fall of Maduro.

People protested against the blackouts by beating pots and pans but also turning on bonfire in the street. The communist government declared that the oil reserves, sent from Russia, have run out. The Minister of Energy Vicente de la O Levy on state television he spoke of a “very tense” situation.
On Tuesday the 65% of Cuban territory has experienced simultaneous power outages, but the outages are increasingly longer and more widespread. The tourismone of the main revenue sources for the country, is practically reset.
The US Secretary of State Marco Rubio renewed an offer of aid equal to 100 million dollarsprovided that the aid is distributed by Catholic Churchbypassing the government.
