Sampo Kaulanen tells Iltalehti what caused the fire of the resort he built.
On Thursday, Sampo Kaulanen received a call that one of his holiday destination has caught fire. Atte Kajova
TV entrepreneur Sampo Kaulanen45, one of the cottages in the resort built on Thursday.
Kaulanen tells Iltalehti that he was looking for food for his children when he noticed that fire trucks were passing.
– I thought spring had started as Ylläs was starting to go on alarm vehicles. Then, after a while, one of the cottages was on fire, says the entrepreneur.
According to Kaulanen, the fire had caught fire in the middle of the house, apparently as a result of a short circuit to the construction site. According to Kaulanen, personal injuries were saved because no one had the fire inside the cottage.
– Happiness in the accident that we still had people on site. One of the workers noticed it and had a fire extinguisher to suppress it. Then the fire brigade arrived to shut it down, he says.

At the moment, it is difficult for Kaulanen to say how large the damage caused by the fire is.
– Clearly, the ceiling needs to be completely renewed as the fire brigade saw it completely open and the insulation is now on the floor. In addition, smoke damage is everywhere. The wool also has insanely large windows, so you still have to see if they are damaged, the man lists.
– We have not yet received a report on what we need to renew. But it’s good to have the insurance, he says.
In the midst of the situation, Kaulanen tries to remain optimistic. After all, he is accustomed to constantly facing setbacks as an entrepreneur.
– After all, that crying and complaining at this point helps anything. They just make me feel miserable, he says.

In the situation, Kaulanen sees a positive thing that the least finished cottage caught fire.
– The idea is that in early December we will open the wool, but the wool should be completed in the fall. We deliberately left such a game because something always happens. And it’s good to be left, says the entrepreneur.
“We still have a good time to get everything right,” he says.
Kaulanen says that the accident has made it particularly to think about how important it is to have, for example, emergency exits and fire alarms in the cottages.
Kaulanen has previously opened openly that he is building a holiday destination for Ylläs. According to Kaulanen, this is a project of EUR 30 million. Kaulanen said on his Instagram account in August 2024 that the comforts of the resort will be properly addressed.
– A skylight for viewing the Northern Lights directly from the bed, a sauna with jacuzzi, and especially for Asian guests, toilets with washing and drying functions belong to every standard equipment for the housing unit, he listed in his update.
