The starting shot has been fired!

The starting shot for the mass start in Val di Fiemme has been fired and the bulk of the athletes take to the track using the classic technique. In the first few meters, the main thing is not to let yourself be disturbed in a large group and to avoid falls and breaks. Two bonus sprints await the cross-country skiers today. At 2.3 and six kilometers, extra seconds are given for the ten best athletes.

12:35

Only two Swiss women left

After Oberstdorf, the Swiss team has reduced to just two athletes. Nadine Fähndrich leads the duo, Lydia Hiernickel starts next to her.

Stadlober is looking at the top ten

The Austrian lone fighter is usually good at the mass start. Teresa Stadlober is currently in twelfth place in the overall standings and could certainly be among the frontrunners in the mass start in classic technology. In this discipline she celebrated her best results so far in the World Cup.

12:27

Hennig leads the DSV team

Katharina Hennig should be looking forward to the competition. The DSV cross-country skiers are considered to be the best athletes in classic technique and the mass start should suit her. So there are good chances of making progress in the Tour de Ski. Hennig is currently in 14th place. In addition to her, Katherine Sauerbrey, Pia Fink, Lisa Lohmann as well as Sofie Krehl and Antonia Fräbel are still on the tour. The remaining DSV athletes have since dropped out.

Can persecutors work their way up again?

The chasers now have to work their way up to Nepryaeva again at the mass start. Jessie Diggins in particular will have a hard time. Compared to Nepryaeva and Niskanen, the American is considered to be a weaker runner in the classical technique.

12:15

Natalia Nepryaeva leads tour

After a heated sprint and a fall from the previous tour leader, Russian Natalia Nepryaeva has taken the lead in the Tour de Ski. Nepryaeva is 34 seconds ahead of Kerttu Niskanen from Finland. After her bad luck, Diggins is 38 seconds behind the competitor.
