13:16
Andersson further ahead
13 athletes are further ahead in the leading group. Andersson continues to set the pace ahead of Astrid Øyre Slind. Hennig Dotzler is hiding in tenth position.
13:14
Niskanen in pursuit
The chasing group is now led by Kertuu Niskanen, around ten seconds behind. Hoffmann and Fink are also in this group, as is Eva Ingebrigtsen. Simpson-Larsen only managed to catch up with the leading group in 13th place.
13:14
The Swedes are pulling away
At the front the pace is now increasing and Andersson, Karlsson, Astrid Øyre Slind, Ribom, Ilar, Sundling can easily pull away. But Diggins approaches again on the descent. Stadtlober, Matintalo, Fosnaes and Hennig Dotzler are also still there. Hoffmann and Fink can no longer keep up with the pace.
13:12
The Swedes are at the top
Now Ebba Andersson takes over at the front and increases the pace again. Around 37 athletes can still keep up with the speed. Hennig Dotzler is in ninth place.
13:11
Gimmler has to give up
Unfortunately, Laura Gimmler had to give up the race after just one lap. What’s wrong with her is still unclear.
13:10
First of six rounds around
Astrid Øyre Slind is now setting the pace in the stadium and takes the lead ahead of Karlsson. Katharina Hennig Dotzler has also worked her way forward and is third in the timekeeping. Pia Fink is eleventh. Nadine Fähndrich in twelfth place and Teresa Stadlober crossed the timekeeping in 16th place.
13:08
Germans are still doing well
Now Ilar takes over the pace from her teammate Karlsson. The overall World Cup leader is also at the front and is third through the intermediate time of 1.9 kilometers. Four out of six German cross-country skiers are still there. Only Veit and Gimmler, who cracked the Olympic qualification yesterday in the sprint, have to give up.
13:04
Field still together
The women don’t really have the speed in the first few kilometers. The speed can keep up with the field. Karlsson continues to set the pace at the front ahead of Weng and Astrid Øyre Slind.
1:03 p.m
Karlsson sets the pace
Immediately after the start, Frida Karlsson immediately took the lead and set the pace ahead of her compatriot Ilar. Heidi Weng is in third place ahead of Fosnaes, Andersson and Diggins. Fink is seventh in the timing at 0.8 kilometers.
1:00 p.m
Let’s go!
The starting signal has sounded and all 66 athletes have started. The cross-country skiers push away from the start using the double-pole technique.
12:55
What is the Skiathlon?
In the skiathlon, the athletes run a 20-kilometer route, first in the classic style (10km) and then, after changing skis, a second half (10km) in the free technique.
12:50
The favorites
After Therese Johaug’s resignation in May, the big favorite to win is no longer in the field. The Norwegian won both World Cup skiathlon races last season and took second place at the World Cup. Due to their retirement, the overall World Cup leader Jessie Diggins, the Swede Ebba Anderson and the two Norwegians Heidi Wenig and Astrid Øyre Slind are now among the favorites. Jonna Sundling, Frida Karlsson and Krista Parmakoski can also hope for the top places. Just like the Swiss Nadja Kälin and the only Austrian in the field, Teresa Stadlober (start number 15).
12:45
Five Swiss women there
In addition to Nadja Kälin (start number 11), who can hope for the top 10 if the competition goes well, her sister Marina Kälin (36) is also at the start. Anja Weber (29), Nadine Fähndrich (31) and Giuliana Werro (40) complete the team.
12:41
Six DSV athletes registered
After Victoria Carl’s doping ban, Helen Hoffmann (start number 14), Pia Fink (8), Katharina Hennig Dotzler (21) and Laura Gimmler (37) probably have the best prospects for the top places in the Trondheim Skiathlon. All four finished in the top 20 in the three races last season. In addition to the two, Katherine Sauerbrey (13) and Verena Veit (50) are also at the start.
12:30
Good day
Hello and welcome to the second day of cross-country skiing in Trondheim. At 1 p.m. the cross-country skiers will compete in a 20 km skiathlon in the classic and free technique.
