Croatian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture Josip Dabro has announced his resignation after… video had surfaced in which he randomly shoots out from a moving car. The images, which appeared in the media this week, show Dabro singing in the passenger seat and shooting into the dark with a firearm. The car drives through an apparently sparsely populated and remote area.

Dabro stated that “these circumstances are a burden on the government and my party.” He added: “This incident should not distract the government and the Ministry of Agriculture from their priorities and necessary reforms.” For that reason he is said to have decided to resign.

The deputy prime minister previously defended himself by stating that the images are years old and that he did not shoot real bullets at the time. He also emphasized that there was no danger to others.

This is the second scandal to hit the Croatian government in a short time. In November, then Health Minister Vili Beroš was dismissed due to an ongoing corruption investigation.

Correction: An earlier version of this article stated that Dabro’s departure is a setback for newly elected President Zoran Milanović, but the government is led by Prime Minister Andrej Plenković. The passage has been removed.
