Galtier and Mbappé joked about the suggestion to change the plane for the train for short journeys

Social networks have exploded against the reaction of the coach and the star of the Parisian team

The reaction of Kylian Mbappe and the coach of Paris Saint-Germain, Christophe Galtiera request that the club use the train instead of a private plane for short trips drew harsh criticism in France.

Galtier and Mbappé laughed at the suggestion of a director of the state railway company SNCF, Alain Kraskovitch, for the club to use the train more on short journeyssince the railway adapts to their needs in terms of “safety, speed, services and eco-mobility”.

Asked during the press conference prior to the Champions League match tomorrow against Juventus, Galtier looked at Mbappé and the latter burst out laughingto the point that he had to lower his face so that it would not be seen how he covered his mouth, which infected part of the attendees.

Galtier, meanwhile, keeps his face a little better, but he also smiles and covers his mouth to prevent his laughter from being seen.

“Excuse me, I was afraid we were going to have this question -Galtier answers with a serious face- To be honest, this morning we have spoken with the company that organizes our trips, we are looking if we can switch to the sailing car”he adds sarcastically.

In the last hours, social networks were filled with criticismaccompanied by videos in which other high-level teams and stars in their squads are seen moving by rail, such as Milan or Juventus in Italy, or Liverpool in England.

“What an example for young people and those who ‘admire’ them. Clowns”; “Energetic sobriety is for the mob. Poor guys”; “It’s a shame to answer absurdly and condescendingly”, “It’s not a train but a basket of salad that these two deserve”… These are some of the critical comments that can be seen on networks.

Other critics reproach that neither Galtier nor Mbappé tried to argue security or logistical reasons, such as night hours, but limited themselves to laughing and commenting on the coach.

Kraskovitch’s proposal had been supported by the Minister of Sports, Amélie Oudéa-Castéra, who gave the example of the Spanish Betis and its cooperation with the state railway company Renfe.

Last Friday it had been the anti-globalization NGO Attac that had charged against the Argentine soccer player Leo Messi within a campaign on social networks against private flights.

Under the title “The ultra-rich destroy the planet”, Attac revealed that “from June to August, Lionel Messi has made 52 flights with his private plane, that is to say 1,502 tons of CO2 (carbon dioxide). It is as much as a French in 150 years.”

The debate is part of that generated by several NGOs around the world in recent weeks about the level of pollution generated by private planes in relation to the few people they transport.
