Starting in January, the new drama series from the streaming provider Disney+ invites you on a journey through the dazzling life of Cristóbal Balenciaga, one of the most important designers of the 20th century.
The streaming service presented the series about the fashion designer on Monday after “Kaiser Karl”, a homage to the German designer Karl Lagerfeld, was published in the spring. The main role in the series is played by Spanish actor Alberto San Juan.
The setting is Paris in the 1930s, where Balenciaga has to prove himself to Spain’s elite after leaving behind his successful career as a couturier. His reinterpretation of the female silhouette was initially not well received in the sophisticated French fashion scene. The clientele who are used to designers like Coco Chanel and Christian Dior don’t seem ready for unconventional models. Finally, thanks to his ambition, Balenciaga achieved a breakthrough. The fashion world still draws on his timeless legacy today.
From January 19, 2024, “Cristóbal Balenciaga” will be available to Disney+ subscribers.
